This was such an inspiring and exhausting weekend!
Particularly inspiring were the workshops on class and feminism and a workshop on tactical inclusion (of children, older people and disabled people) in direct action. Possibly the very best thing about the weekend was the amount of amazing young men who were attending and were the main people running the children's tent.
Such wonderful people, from a fascinating anarchist Granny who took her then 2 year old son and let him run wild in court when she was being prosecuted for not paying Poll Tax, to a young transgendered man who had got his parents involved in legal support for the direct actions he was involved in.
We stayed at an anarchist housing co-op, which was a beautiful building, lived on curry provided by Manchester's Food not Bombs group and generally enjoyed the atmosphere!
Leni and Fliss, well, I feel like I hardly saw them! There was so much fun stuff going on that I mostly saw them when they were hungry or sleepy!
I ran a work shop on feminism and breast feeding which had more people there who weren't parents than were. I think the best things that came out of it was a sharing of ideas on how feminists can support women who are breast feeding in public, and a greater awareness for some people about the tactics used by formula companies to destroy breast feeding in the developing world.
I really wish I had got some photographs of the glitter fight, initiated by the children...very enthusiastically continued by a group of PhD students, and now mainly all over my bed!
