well, I am convinced that baby Miranda has eaten mine.
We've been having problems with Fliss and sleep. She reached the awkward stage where they still need a nap, but want to have it at about 4pm, for three hours then be awake until 1am. So, attempting to respect what her body needs we threw ourselves into coping with it. Chris and I took shifts so the other one could get a bit more sleep, but it ground us down until last week when Chris, I and both children slept right through Chris' alarms (note the plural, there are three!) every day for a week leading to a stressed out Chris, tired and crabby me and both children wondering why we were snappy.
We decide we need to do something. Changing a person's sleep routines for them is not something that we have done before and it felt all wrong. So a few days pass, no bright ideas as to how to deal with it.
About half an hour ago I was stood in the kitchen and had a brainwave.
Fliss needs to eat earlier.
The problem is clearly that instead of going to sleep for the night at 5/6pm she is waking up to eat her dinner with us! Now, I adore us all eating together, but Chris often doesn't get home until 7pm, which means dinner is at its earliest 7.15. Fliss was going to sleep at just the time that she could have a few hours, wake up for dinner then enjoy the evening/night/early hours.
So today I have fed the children at the time when Fliss would be trying to go to sleep. She is happily munching away on her pasta, at a time that had become a sort of witching hour of...NOOOOOOOOOOOO DON'T GO TO SLEEEEEEEEEEEEEP.
We'll eat together at the weekends until it suits Fliss to change things round again. As always, these fabulous little people know exactly what they are doing, it just takes us a bit longer to catch on.

well done Mama for finding the solution - I often remember the same about Z & G but too late - when the witching hour has already begun. It does make a difference to feed them earlier :)
Much love X
